Meet your guide…
Katie Triest
Katie is a passionate bird educator and tour guide based in Telluride, Colorado. She discovered her love of birds in college and has turned that fascination into both a vocation and a way of life. Early in her career, Katie served as a licensed wild bird rehabilitator with the Wild Bird Fund in New York City, helping injured birds recover and return to the wild. She also worked as Director of Education there, where she developed an immersive year-long bird curriculum for classrooms to inspire young students to care for nature through experiential learning.
Since moving to Telluride in 2009, Katie has become a well-known figure in the local community, bringing bird programming and environmental education to institutions such as Telluride Academy, the Telluride Historical Museum, and the Wilkinson Public Library.
Katie’s life in Telluride reflects her deep commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and the simple joy of connecting people with the natural world around them.
Katie is excited to bring her experience and passion to each trip she takes with you!
